Directed by Nicolas Schreiner.

Friday June 14, 1940, on the eve of German troops entering Alsace, Marie-Joseph Bopp can't sleep and feels the "storm" coming. Alone in his room, he sets himself the goal of "re-establishing the historical truth" by starting to write a war diary.

For more than five years, Bopp has been writing his war diary.

For more than five years, Marie-Joseph Bopp, a teacher at Colmar's Lycée Bartholdi, jotted down in his diary everything that came to him, from near and far, first-hand information as well as the most far-fetched rumors, facts as well as representations, the essential as well as the trivial, thus delivering precious testimony on the state and evolution of Colmar public opinion during the war.

More than 80 years after the fact, Nicolas Schreiner faithfully takes up Marie-Joseph Bopp's text to deliver a theatrical adaptation accessible to all, depicting an Alsace at once victim, unwilling accomplice and rebel.

Marie-Joseph Bopp was born in Sélestat on January 2, 1893. After studying philology at the University of Strasbourg, in 1916 he was appointed as an auxiliary teacher at the Gymnasium de Colmar (later the Lycée Bartholdi), where he taught Latin, Greek, French and then German after the Second World War until his retirement in 1960.

His diary, in accordance with his life's work, was published in the French language.

In accordance with his request, his diary will only be published in 2004 by "La Nuée Bleue".
