The Ohnenstetter-Herzer house was built in 1492 for the blacksmith Herzer. The large window with its protruding archway bears an inscription in German which reads: "Thistles and thorns sting strongly, and evil tongues even more. Therefore, I would rather fall on thistles than have to deal with bad tongues. "
Acquired by the city in 1907, the house was completely restored and housed its museum for 65 years.
