For this third edition of the Trail of Knights in Alsace, the starting signal will be given at 7pm in Turckheim, heading for the Vosges mountains and the discovery of the fortified castles of Alsace.
After the start, you'll reach the Galtz, nicknamed the ‘Alsatian Corcovado’, a monumental 23-metre statue blessing the Alsace plain. You will then cross the Château du Wineck in Katzenthal before reaching the Château du Schlossberg on the outskirts of Kaysersberg, a must on this historic route.
You will then climb the slopes leading to Aubure, the highest village in Alsace and the highest point of the route, offering wild, unspoilt views.
Moving on to the Bas-Rhin département, you will enter the grounds of the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, a majestic site that dominates the plain and bears witness to Alsace's medieval history.
From Châtenois to Barr, the vineyards and typical Alsatian villages will reveal all their authenticity, as you follow part of the route of the 50K. The ascent to Mont Sainte-Odile, a spiritual and historical landmark, will be a memorable stage in your adventure.
Finally, a final climb to the summit of the Heidenkopf will precede your final descent to Obernai, where you will cross the finishing line on its medieval ramparts, becoming a knight of this legendary distance.
In the valley of Kaysersberg, spectators will be able to cheer on the runners at Château du Wineck (from around 7.47pm), in Kaysersberg, where refreshments will be available (between 8.24pm and 10pm), and on the way up to the castle.
