The works of Margareta Anna Leuthardt-Schwager are fashioned using a variety of papers on which she draws abstract calligraphy with large Chinese brushes. The sweeping gestures that accompany the brushes, an expression of energy and movement, deploy the Indian ink according to the texture and transparency of the paper. In this way, Indian ink is linked to chance. The latter plays a central role in the
artist's work, determining abstract calligraphy.

She contrasts often ambitious formats with small ones, such as leporellos, or paper objects. In her work, there is no limit to the exploration of different kinds of paper. Their texture, shape and format thus create transparent worlds through which the poetic expression of Margareta's large Chinese brushes allows the Indian ink to flow or position itself in a purposeful way, with a rather dry consistency.
