Le collectif des sonneurs de la vallée de Munster: It was in January 2024 that the idea of organizing an Alpine Horn meeting in the Valley along the lines of the one that previously existed in Munster took shape. The Collectif des Sonneurs de la Vallée was thus born out of the association of three local groups:
- l'Echo des deux lacs de Soultzeren
- l'Echo du Gaschney de Stosswihr
- les Menschtertaler Alphorn Bloser de Munster

Through exchange with other European formations, we aim to increase, enrich and diversify horn playing in our valley. Each group develops its own identity, but knows how to merge happily into the collective to form a giant sound.

Alpenhorn and schalmei
Once a means of communication between alpine pastures and villages, schalmei and alphorns now occupy an essential place in our traditional music heritage. These popular trumpets, made of metal
or wood, emanate a quiet power that inspires calm and serenity. Formerly used by solitary marcaires, these horns are now played in small groups that indulge in the joys of harmony and counterpoint. In 1999, two trios of Alpine horn enthusiasts joined forces to create the ECHO DU GASCHNEY and keep this instrument alive in our beautiful Munster valley. Our group currently comprises seven players, and our 93-year-old oldest member is also the maker of our horns. This is how we take pleasure in sounding and transmitting these sweet melodies in our mountains and far beyond. Anyone wishing to practice this instrument will be most welcome. The Menschtertaler Alphorn Bloser:

In 1980, during the recording of the France 3 television program "Les jeux de 20 heures" in Munster, three Mitschi brothers, active in the Sapeurs-Pompiers clique, took up the challenge of presenting this unusual tradition of the Alphorn on national television. Thus was born the association of the Menschtertaler Alphorn Bloser (Munster Valley Alphorn Sounders). Regular collaboration with the Marcaires (Malker) folk group reinforces the maintenance of our local traditions. There are currently 9 of us. Join us for a weekly rehearsal on Thursday evenings at 8pm, in a room annexed to the Munster elementary school. Contact : Guy Mitschi , Tel : 06.31.83.85.83 or guymitschi@orange.fr

L'Echo du Gashney:

La Passion du Cor des Alpes is the genesis of our band, which was born in Wihr au Val with the Echo du Stauffen in 2010. Encounters and sharing of this instrument led our formation to the village of Soultzeren under the
name "l'Echo des Deux Lacs", in 2021. Tradition and innovation are the emblems of our group, over and above a sustained
activity:
- the will to pass on to young people through the organization in August of an annual course in the making of the "Schalmei", a small local horn.
- the will to improve in the discovery and practice of the instrument through regular rehearsals and the organization of master classes.
- the will to make the musicality of this instrument shine through the research of old scores, the creation of arrangements and their diffusion during various concerts and animations. If, like us, you've fallen in love with this instrument, join us. Contact : Jean-Pierre BARTH, 06 36 07 77 73 - echodesdeuxlacs@gmail.com
