The ensemble "Le Concert Royal" offers a particularly festive concert with the brilliant line-up of natural trumpets, timpani and organ.
The audience will hear Guy Ferber (1st trumpet), Xavier Gendreau (2nd trumpet), Thomas Holzinger (timpani) and Francis Jacob (organ).

The natural trumpet (before the invention of pistons in the 19th century) is characterized by its rich sound, suitable for sonorous and festive pieces, even if the sound is less powerful than the modern trumpet. Not all notes can be played on a natural trumpet like on a keyboard, and some, linked to natural harmonics, have pitch and timbre characteristics that break with a supposed homogeneity. These characteristics are also the source of the richness of this instrument, which can be formidable to play, but which in the hands of a master, like those of the two musicians featured in this program, produces magical sonorities. The combination of the two trumpets is of particular brilliance, but depending on the piece, can also be particularly moving.
