First concert of Les Archets Types string orchestra  

Alsace welcomes a newcomer to the classical music scene, the string orchestra "Les Archets Types", directed by Stéphane Cattez. This brand-new 21-strong ensemble brings together both professionals and enlightened amateurs. Driven by the shared passion of its members for the pleasure of playing and sharing the immense string repertoire, "Les Archets Types" offers two concerts a year in Alsace. Stéphane Cattez, viola and chamber music teacher and head of the Orchestre Symphonique des Jeunes at the Colmar Conservatoire, is passionate about the richness of sound and musical research made possible by the sound of strings, and was the driving force behind the creation of this ensemble, with which he carries out in-depth, demanding work on the repertoire. For its first season, the "Les archets Types" orchestra offers a program of emblematic works. Listeners will have the pleasure of hearing Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Serenade op. 48, a masterpiece by the composer whose romantic, dynamic writing transcends tunes drawn from Russian folk tradition. The Holberg Suite op. 40, and finally Edvard Grieg's Norwegian Melodies op. 63, offering a musical journey through the Scandinavian landscapes so dear to the composer, complete the program.
