Ravel's choral music is rare, but there are nuggets like the Trois chansons for a cappella choir. Yet it seems to find an ideal extension in song. This programme presents some of his greatest works transcribed for choir, from Ma mère l'oye to Shéhérazade and La vallée des cloches.<<<<
Great composers and arrangers have already given their credentials to the Ravelian art of transcription: Gérard Pesson, Thierry Machuel and Clytus Gottwald. For this programme, Les Métaboles challenged Thibault Perrine to transcribe for the first time two emblematic works by Ravel: Le Boléro and La Pavane pour une Infante défunte.
These new versions for a cappella choir allow us to approach these works in a new and unprecedented light!
