It's an almost ordinary day in Yan Ducoudray's flat as he prepares to welcome Florence Arnaud, a beautiful, elegant woman he met at a society dinner.
But before her eagerly-awaited arrival, Yan has to get rid of Manuella, his clingy cleaning lady, Eva, his rather intrusive next-door neighbour, Boris, Eva's jealous husband, two atypical policemen who are different but complementary, and André Arnaud, Florence's husband! A stupid mix-up between a revolver and its copy, which is just a lighter, turns the situation into a crime scene, but fortunately no one gets hurt.
