Concert: Trio Ispolin - Velikankite  

According to legend, the Ispolin were giants who inhabited Bulgaria before the first humans. Their powerful voices enabled them to converse and sing songs from mountain to mountain. They are said to have inspired the entire history of song in Bulgaria. Far from these primitive mountains, Diane Bucciali, Christine Clément and Camille Mandleur, the mini giants of the Ispolin trio, breathe contemporary air into songs that are hundreds of years old. With their new Vélikankité repertoire, the Ispolin trio are pursuing the idea of ‘traditional music for the 21st century’: a blend of styles, creative arrangements, energetic percussion, strong harmonies, expressive timbres... tradition and creation come together for a poignant polyphonic odyssey that is resolutely contemporary.
