The Blue Heaven Stompers pay tribute to one of the most moving musicians in the history of jazz: Léon Bismark Beiderbecke, known as BIX. An American jazz horn player, composer and pianist, he was fascinated by jazz and classical music, particularly the French composers of the time, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. Bix Beiderbecke began performing professionally in Chicago dance bands and on paddle steamers in 1921.
His cornet playing quickly stood out from that of his contemporaries, most of whom were influenced by King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. His melancholy lyricism and dazzling flights of fancy made him one of the most moving musicians in the history of jazz. Surrounded by cornetist Eric THEILLER, the Blue Heaven Stompers jubilantly bring to life Bix Beiderbecke's Chicago Jazz repertoire in a frenzied atmosphere.
