To mark its 20th anniversary, the national memorial centre in eastern France is shining a spotlight on those who, past and present, fought against slavery and for freedom. Through an exhibition, discover the five emblematic sites of the Route des Abolitions de l'Esclavage, which pay tribute to committed figures with a link to the Grand Est region. Courageous men and women, some of them little-known, left their mark on history by their fight against oppression. The exhibition retraces their lives and highlights the memorial sites that bear witness to their commitment. From Lorraine to Alsace, via Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, this exhibition is an opportunity to better understand an essential part of our history.
