Freshly divorced, Fred spends Christmas Eve at the home of his best friend Hugo, a childless atheist, and Hugo's wife Corine, who is not at all pleased to see him. The trio is joined by Nadia, the couple's charming neighbour who is studying anthropology.
The evening quickly descends into chaos: misunderstandings, tensions and revelations cause the festivities to degenerate.
A year later, on another Christmas Eve, we meet up with our four characters again...
