Colmar Jazz Festival - Melissa Weikartt : vocal jazz / Camille Bertault - Vocal jazz
MELISSA WEIKART - USA/France - Vocal jazz
How do you get back to what's essential if not by being fully yourself? The Franco-American musician Melissa Weikart is driven by a spirit of experimentation and openness that enables her to shape hybrid music with a high degree of sensitivity. Her intimate pop style is shaped by her classical piano training, her love of jazz (she holds a Master's degree in contemporary improvisation from Boston's New England Conservatory) and her passion for folk songs.
Winner of the Nancy Jazz Up springboard in 2022, then of the instrumentalist prize at the Concours national de Jazz à la Défense the following year, Melissa has just released her new EP Easy in January 2025. With Kate Bush and Lana del Rey as her backdrop, Melissa Weikart is now asserting her pop side in a spellbinding cinematic and theatrical atmosphere.
CAMILLE BERTAULT - France - Vocal jazz
Winner of the Victoires du Jazz 2023, vocal artist category.
Bonjour mon Amour, Camille Bertault's new album, was released in March 2023. The percussion is the tree of the project where worlds that are not usually associated intermingle: song, jazz, improvisation, theatre, poetry, slam, and a few electro textures. The lyrics are biting, raw, incisive, melancholy and funny, and deal with very topical subjects. Camille's various influences are evident: Gainsbourg, Brigitte Fontaine, Horace Silver, Monk, André Minvielles, Bjork, Portishead, Ravel, Boris Vian, Fiona Apple, Tania Maria... even if this project confirms that Camille's universe is personal and unique, without ever losing the groove, the trance and the dance.
Camille Bertault: vocals - Fady Farah: piano - Sylvain Romano: double bass - Minino Garay: percussion - Julien Alour: trumpet
