Festival International de Colmar - Janoska, an eastern breeze in the world of classical
Janoska Ensemble
Ondrej Janoska, violin
Roman Janoska, violin
Frantisek Janoska, piano
Julius Darvas, double bass
A family affair! Comprising the three brothers Ondrej, František and Roman Janoska, originally from Bratislava, and their brother-in-law Julius Darvas, the Janoska ensemble performs on the most prestigious stages, from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to the Konzerthaus in Vienna, as well as in Paris, Hamburg, Munich and Budapest.
They revisit the great works of the repertoire and reinterpret them with incredible punch. In a style that is entirely their own, combining jazz, pop, improvisation and the popular traditions of Central Europe, they break all the codes of classical music.
Tonight, they offer us their take on famous pieces by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart – and even McCartney! A unique musical vision, full of life and colour, to rediscover pieces that we thought we had heard too many times.
Program
Antonio Vivaldi, ‘The Spring’ Violin Concerto No. 1 in E major, Op. 8, RV 269,
The Groovy Birds, Dreaming Soul, The Irish Wedding
Antonio Vivaldi, ‘The Summer’, Violin Concerto in G minor Op. 8/2, RV 315
Caribbean Vibes, Dreaming Soul, Storm in Janoska Style
W. A. Mozart, Figaro Wedding, Overture a la Janoska
František Janoska, Souvenir for Elise (Based on Beethoven's Letter to Elise), Rumba for Amadeus
Fritz Kreisler, Praeludium and Allegro
