Colmar International Festival - Young Talent Cycle: Gatien Leray & Thomas Briant
Viola : Gatien Leray
Violin : Thomas Briant
Gatien Leray and Thomas Briant explore the full richness of the violin and viola through a programme that crosses eras and styles. From the classical finesse of Mozart's duo to the contemporary audacity of Hindemith and Martinu, via the virtuosity of the works for solo violin by Matteis and Briant (who is also a composer), this programme highlights the richness and the complicity of these two instruments.
Program
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Duo for violin and viola in G major, KV 423 (17 mins)
Nicolas Matteis, Alia Fantasia in A minor for solo violin (5 mins)
Thomas Briant, Pajarillo Caprice, op. 1 for solo violin (13 mins)
Paul Hindemith, Sonata for solo viola, op. 25 no. 1 (15 mins)
Bohuslav Martinu, ‘Three Madrigals’, duo no. 1 for violin and viola (17 mins)
