Festival de la vosgienne
The Haut-Rhin association of Vosgienne breeders presents the 1st edition of the "Festival de la Vosgienne". The famous cows will be stopping off at the Parc expo in Colmar on 5 and 6 April before heading off to their summer pastures high up in the Vosges mountains. A great opportunity to come and admire them up close!
Saturday 5 April
10am: Grand transhumance of Vosges cows through the heart of Colmar, from the covered market to the Parc des Expositions
11am: Opening and inauguration of the festival
12pm: Traditional marcaire meal and music / Wolkenblau live concert
1pm: Departmental competition of Vosges cows - more than sixty cows presented to visitors!
Presentations on the Vosgienne, its traditions and mountain farming
Marcaire meal and a host of Vosgienne products
Round-table discussions with the Alsace European Collectivity on commitments to agriculture - short circuits and local catering for all.
A host of activities: a mini-farm for families, farmers' and craft markets, milking demonstrations, farm equipment exhibitions and musical entertainment
7.30pm: Mountain dinner dance with the Wllertalher orchestra and large stands selling farm produce from the Vosgienne breed
Sunday 6 April
10am: Opening of the festival
Continuation of the departmental Vosges cow competition and the many activities on offer to visitors
Round-table discussions with the Collectivité européenne d'Alsace on commitments to agriculture - short circuits and the agriculture of tomorrow
Entertainment by the Sonneurs de cloches (bell ringers) and the folk group Barg alm Krainer Big auction
12pm: Traditional marcaire meal and musical atmosphere / Wolkenblau live concert
4pm: Presentation of a cheque to the Solidarité Paysans association to combat suicide in the farming world
4.30pm: Presentation of the festival's grand champion cow
5pm: End of the festival
Throughout the weekend: mini-farm, small-scale catering (traditional marcaire meal), farmers' and craftsmen's markets, exhibitions of farming equipment, pony rides and continuous musical entertainment. 60 Vosges cows will be on site, and the public will be able to watch the cows being milked and prepared for the competition.
