Festival International de Colmar - Brass instruments and stars
Belgian Brass
Erik Desimpelaere
Born out of the quintet Belgian Brass Soloists, the prestigious ensemble Belgian Brass has set itself the mission of introducing the widest possible audience to music of all times and genres. Made up of eminent musicians, all soloists in major European orchestras, Belgian Brass enjoys pushing the limits of virtuosity and musicality.
For their first appearance at the Colmar Festival, they have chosen to juxtapose Holst's The Planets, whose influence on film composers such as John Williams is well known, with High Definition, which their leader Erik Desimpelaere has specifically composed around film music of recent decades. The musician enjoys mixing classical references (Bach, Stravinsky, etc.) and popular film themes in a flamboyant sound fresco.
A colourful concert!
Program
Gustav Holst, The Planets (49')
Eric Desimpelaere, High Définition (45')
