This musician, philosopher, theologian, doctor in Africa and pioneer of humanitarian medicine left his mark on his time through his commitment and humanism. The example of a man gifted with unfailing optimism and his museum dedicated to "Respect for Life" will encourage young and old alike to question the meaning of their passage on Earth.
Gunsbach, this charming Alsatian village, exerted a great influence on Albert Schweitzer. It was here that he had his house built in 1928 with money from the Frankfurt Goethe Prize. In this place he had known for fifty years, he wished to create an oasis of rest in his hectic life.
